PATROL REPORT – August 5, 2026

August 5, 2026 – (Balboa Peninsula Point Patrol Assignment)

12:06 AM Carlos Mejia – 0005: Going on break. Conducted a routine patrol prior to break. No suspicious activity was encountered. All parks and beaches were checked and found to be clear. All conditions were safe and normal.

2:04 AM Carlos Mejia – 0035: Returned from break and resumed proactive patrol operations throughout the community with special attention given to parks, common areas, beach access points, alleyways, and other locations known for increased pedestrian activity. Conducted visible security checks of all areas of interest to deter unauthorized activity and reinforce security presence. Observed normal levels of vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the patrol area. All parks and common areas were found to be in good order with no signs of vandalism, suspicious activity, disturbances, or safety hazards.

0145 : Conducted checks of Lifeguard Stands G and L, where several individuals were observed on the beach after posted closure hours. All subjects were contacted and successfully removed from the beach without incident. Also contacted one resident who repeatedly requested permission to run on the beach after hours. The request was denied due to the posted beach closure, and the resident complied before leaving the area. No further incidents were encountered.

0200: Continued high-visibility patrol throughout the remainder of the community, including parking lots, beach access points, and pedestrian walkways. Verified all areas were secure and free of suspicious activity or safety hazards. Maintained a visible security presence to deter unauthorized activity. No further incidents were observed, and all conditions remained safe and normal.

2:47 AM Carlos Mejia – 0200 – Conducted routine vehicle patrol throughout the community with increased attention given to beach access points due to recent after-hours activity. Increased patrol frequency around the beach area due to individuals attempting to enter the beach after posted hours and accessing the shoreline during periods of high surf conditions. While conducting patrol, observed an individual with a metal detector in the beach area. Proceeded toward the individual for further observation; however, the individual left the area before contact could be made.

0245: Conducted security checks of multiple alleyways throughout the community; all areas were clear with no suspicious activity encountered. Conducted patrol checks of parks and tennis courts; all locations were clear and secure. While parked conducting observations at parks and beach areas, observed multiple vehicles traveling at excessive speeds, with some vehicles passing close to the patrol vehicle and creating a potential safety concern.

Overall patrol conditions remained quiet and normal. Continued monitoring of beach areas will be maintained due to increased after-hours activity and safety concerns related to individuals entering the water during high surf conditions. No incidents requiring further action occurred during this patrol period.

3:21 AM Carlos Mejia – 0300 : Conducted routine vehicle patrol throughout the community with increased attention given to Miramar, L Street, M Street, and West Jetty Park areas. Completed security checks of all designated areas; all locations were found to be clear with no suspicious activity encountered. Inspected all lifeguard stands and surrounding beach access points; all stands were secure and no issues or suspicious activity were observed.

Conducted patrol checks of multiple alleyways throughout the area to identify any signs of unauthorized activity, vandalism, or safety concerns. All alleyways were clear with no suspicious activity encountered. Maintained a professional security presence while supervising the neighborhood and monitoring for any unusual behavior or after-hours activity.

Observed normal conditions throughout the patrol area with minimal pedestrian and vehicle activity. Continued to monitor key locations, including beach access points, parks, and common areas, to ensure the safety and security of the community. No incidents requiring further action occurred during this patrol period.

0330 : Completed final patrol of the community prior to end of shift. Conducted thorough checks of all assigned areas, including beach access points, parks, alleyways, lifeguard stands, common areas, access points, and restricted areas. All locations were found to be clear and secure with no suspicious activity encountered.

Maintained a visible and professional security presence throughout the shift while monitoring for any safety concerns, unauthorized activity, or disturbances. All gates, access points, and restricted areas were observed to be secure. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic remained at normal levels throughout the patrol area. Overall shift conditions remained quiet and uneventful. No incidents requiring further action occurred during this patrol period.

8:14 PM Dievie Terry – 1900 Assumed the watch and started routine patrol of community. making 1st stops at each beach access points (photos attached).  Afterwards, stayed post at each park showing security presence and observing activity in each neighborhood and all conditions were normal at each beach. Continued showing presence throughout community by going by Bay beach and deterring unauthorized parking in surrounding area. All conditions remained normal.

10:06 PM Dievie Terry – 2000 continued vehicle patrol of the Balboa Peninsula and surrounding Beach areas. conducted a security check-off beach access points, parking, and community. observe moderate pedestrian and vehicle traffic. no suspicious activities or safety hazards were observed.

2100 conducted another Patrol throughout the community while providing verbal reminders to beach patrons regarding the upcoming

2200 Beach closure. continued monitoring the shoreline, parks, and community. all areas remained orderly with no significant incidents.

10:37 PM Dievie Terry – 2200 began enforcement of the beach closure contacted remaining patrons and advise them that the beach was closed. individuals complied with instructions and exited the beach without incident. completed a final patrol of the assigned area and found the beaches and surrounding community secure. no further issues were observed.
