PATROL REPORT – August 2, 2026

August 2, 2026 – (Balboa Peninsula Point Patrol Assignment)

11:44 PM Dievie Terry – 1900 began shift by conducting routine vehicle patrol throughout Balboa peninsula, residential neighborhoods, parks, parking, and beach access points. observed increase pedestrian and vehicle traffic due to the weekend maintained a visible security presence while checking for suspicious activity, Public Safety concerns, and ordinance violations. numerous patrons were observed with open containers near the beach and verbal advisements were issued regarding public drinking regulations. no major incidents occurred

2000 continue vehicle patrol throughout the Balboa Peninsula and Newport Beach shoreline. monitored beach activity, park areas, and surrounding streets for safety concerns and ordinance violations. due to the weekend the area remained busy with heavy foot traffic in numerous Beach goers. at approximately

2100 hours began providing courtesy reminders to patrons regarding the upcoming

2200 hour Beach closure, advising individuals and groups together

2100 started providing reminders of the closure of beaches at this time advising individuals and groups to gather belongings and prepared to exit the beach at

2200 after completing the reminders, resumed routine vehicle patrol throughout the remainder of Balboa Peninsula community, monitoring residential streets, parks, parking lots, and beach access points. maintain the visible security presence it observed no significant incidents all conditions remained normal

2200 begin enforcing the 2200 hour Beach closure by directing and escorting all remaining patrons of the beach conducted multiple passes along the shoreline and beach access points to ensure the beach was completely cleared and all individuals comply with the closure. maintain the visible security presence throughout the enforcement process and encountered no significant issues. went to each individual lifeguard station and escorted patrons that were on the station. 2:57 AM Dievie Terry – 0000 began vehicle patrol Balboa peninsula, including surrounding residential streets, beach access points, and parking. observed normal overnight activity and check for suspicious persons vehicles and safety concerns continued routine Patrol throughout the community and Beach areas monitored public access points reminded remaining patrons of beach closure and maintained visible security presence.

0100 conducted additional patrols of the beach and surrounding neighborhoods. observed light pedestrian traffic with no significant incidents continue patrol of the beach and community checking all designated areas for compliance with Beach closure regulations

0220 made contact with male subject wearing tan shorts, grey top and had his hair in a ponytail using a metal detector on the beach after closure hours. the subject refused to leave despite multiple reminders and stated I know my rights. due to the subjects refusal to comply I contacted Newport Beach Police Department non-emergency line and requested officer assistance. I maintained visual of patron following having my flashlight on him the entire time. the officer responded however, the subject left the area approximately 5 minutes before the officer arrived. prior to leaving the subject stated he will return in 20 minutes. got in contact with the responding officer who advised that if the subject returned and was located, he would be cited for the violation. Stayed post at beach access point to see if individual would come back.

0330 After doing final patrol of beach, vehicle was properly secured. all conditions remained normal as suspect did not come back to the scene. All other conditions were normal. No after hour beach goers on premises and observed no threat to safety or homes.
